MUC · Munich International — second busiest in Germany. S-Bahn to city centre: 40 min, €13.60.
DB Rail
Deutsche Bahn connects major cities. Berlin–Frankfurt: ~4h by ICE high-speed. Book at bahn.com. The DB app is excellent.
Currency
Euro (EUR €) — Germany is notably more cash-oriented than other Western European countries, especially in Berlin. Always carry euros.
Cash Culture
Many Berlin restaurants, bars, and smaller shops are cash-only (Nur Barzahlung). Frankfurt is more card-friendly. Always have cash as backup.
Tipping
Round up or add 5–10% — tell the server the total you want to pay rather than leaving cash on the table. "Stimmt so" means "keep the change."
Pfand
Bottles and cans have a deposit (Pfand) of €0.08–0.25. Return to any supermarket for a refund — there's a machine by the entrance.
